Odour modelling for fibreglass tank manufacturer on proposed factory site in Northern Ireland accepted by Environment and Heritage Service, allowing construction to start.

PPC permit surrender for chemical processing of wool on a Bradford site granted.
Full PPC permit for chemical factory in Leeds received, with some improvement conditions.
Odour modelling for fibreglass tank manufacturer sent to regulator.
One of our clients in Leeds is affected badly by surface water flooding on 15th June. We carry out predictive modelling of worst-case flooding, including where it is safe to move chemicals to in the event of further flooding. This information is used when even larger flood occurs on 25th June.

November 2006: Presentation “Environmental Regulation Update” to Yorkshire and Humber Environment and Energy Management Groups meeting on 15th November 2006

October 2006:
Working as part of a team with chemical manufacturing
clients, completed PPC application for Leeds chemical factory
within extension period agreed with EA. Our contribution
included Site Report, H1, EP-OPRA and co-ordinating the main
application and BAT justification.
September 2006:PPC permit surrender for West Yorkshire site of multinational
automotive part manufacturer approved. Purchase of new office
completed.
August2006:
Assisted with PPC Application Site Report
for chemical manufacturer in Leeds. Project management, advice
and PPC Application Site Report for a soap manufacturer in
Scunthorpe. Compiled Low Impact PPC Application, including Site
Report and all other application documentation for dyestuffs
manufacturer in Bradford. All three projects met the 31st August
deadline.
PPC Permit Surrender for paper mill in Scotland finally accepted
by SEPA after submission in January 2004
June 2006: Completed environmental descriptions and risk assessment of
Major Accidents To The Environment (MATTE) for Yorkshire
speciality chemical manufacturer’s Top Tier COMAH safety report.
This included modelling chemical spills to river/ estuary.
Modelled outputs from proposed sewage plant to land, including
effects on chalk aquifer (R & D 20 model), for housing
development in East Yorkshire – report accepted after technical
discussions with Environment Agency.
May 2006: Submitted a PPC permit surrender application, including site
report with decommissioning information for West Yorkshire site
of multinational automotive part manufacturer.
SPMP for Low Impact chemical manufacturers approved.
April 2006: Clarified REACH position for gasket manufacturer, West
Yorkshire. Currently there is no liability, but they need to
watch how EU law is transposed into UK regulation, and we advise
all companies who may be affected to do the same.
March 2006:
Set up SPMP for chemical manufacturer, West Yorkshire (Low
Impact), including initial reporting and ongoing infrastructure
monitoring programme.
Helped Yorkshire Chemical Focus host a “meet industry” visit for
Alistair McGlone, a senior civil servant from DEFRA. Took him to
two clients to look round their sites and hear how regulation
affects their businesses, and gave my input as I drove him
around.
February 2006:
Successful discussions with EA to ensure another agrochemical
formulator (Shropshire) is not liable for PPC, and drops out of
IPC regulations as well.
Set up spreadsheet so a Low Impact manufacturer can fill it in
easily, and submit their their annual low-impact status document
themselves.
January 2006:
Estimated future remediation costs of historic contamination for
West Yorkshire site of multinational chemical manufacturer
