Statutory Contaminated Land

Under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Local Authorities have been tasked with the inspection of their respective areas for “Contaminated Land”. Contaminated Land is defined as “land which appears to the local authority in whose area it is situated to be in such a condition, by reason of substances in, on, or under the land, that:
Significant Harm is being caused, or there is a Significant Possibility of such Harm being caused; or that
Pollution of Controlled Waters is being, or is likely to be caused”

TT Environmental Ltd has the expertise to be able to examine the information pertinent to the potential identification of a site as “Contaminated Land” and forge a way forward to avoid formal designation. We have many assets and skills to aid the process including: environmental modelling; site investigation design, contract preparation, tendering, supervision and interpretation; risk assessment; remediation option assessment. Not forgetting that, if a site has been designated “Contaminated Land” we can act as a mediator or liaise with the Regulator easing the way through.
